Rittō I

The shrine papers sway in the blue breeze of morning. Sun and cold join in an early brisk dance, and then as the sunshine flows across the land there is a quiet time when the ancient shrine house remembers again the season of Ritto, the start of winter, settling into that memory with ease. Second-growth rice plants shelter marching crows, black shapes moving among wild grain-stalks as silently as shadows.
